A 2014 Porsche Cayenne GTS was brought to Auto Werkstatt for a pre-purchase inspection to evaluate the vehicle’s overall condition and identify any existing maintenance or repair concerns. The inspection included an assessment of the engine, undercarriage, suspension, brakes, tires, electrical systems, and other major vehicle components, along with a road test and vehicle scan.
One of the primary concerns identified during the inspection was excessive oil leakage underneath the vehicle. Although the underhood inspection noted no active oil leaks, the undercarriage inspection documented excessive leaking and recommended further diagnosis to determine the source. Technicians also found that the right front axle was beginning to show signs of seepage, described as “sweating.” These findings warranted additional investigation to determine the necessary repairs.
The inspection also revealed wear in the front lower control arms. While the front and rear shocks, strut mounts, ball joints, tie rods, sway bar end links, and rear axles checked out well, the lower control arms showed signs of wear that should be considered when evaluating the vehicle’s maintenance needs.
Tire condition was another important finding. The front tires and right rear tire measured 4 mm of tread depth and were noted as being close to the wear bars. The left rear tire measured 5 mm. The brake inspection found approximately 6 mm of remaining pad life at both the front and rear, with the rotors checking out okay.
Several other systems checked out well during the inspection. The headlamps and exterior lighting, wipers, windshield, body exterior, windows, door locks, seat adjustments, sunroof, and air conditioning were functioning as intended. The battery, starter, and alternator tested well, the coolant level was full with no active leaks found, and the belts and engine mounts checked out. The exhaust system and wheels also showed no reported abnormalities. During the road test, technicians did not observe any abnormalities.
Auto Werkstatt’s pre-purchase inspection provided a clearer picture of the Porsche Cayenne GTS’s condition, identifying oil leakage requiring further diagnosis, front lower control arm wear, axle seepage, and tires approaching the wear bars while documenting the systems that checked out during testing. These findings give the prospective buyer important information to consider when assessing the vehicle and planning for potential maintenance and repairs.
